Competition Rules

INTERNAL COMPETITIONS
(i) OPEN AND SET SUBJECT COMPETITIONS

Competitions are open to all fully paid up members of the society.
The Society or its personnel cannot be held responsible for loss or damage to submissions or associated materials however caused.
All images and any elements used must be member's own work.

CATEGORIES
1. LARGE PRINTS (COLOUR OR MONO)
2. SMALL PRINTS (COLOUR OR MONO)
3. PROJECTED IMAGES (PDI's COLOUR OR MONO)

ENTRIES

Members may enter EITHER 3 Large OR 3 Small Prints as well as 3 PDI's. (Or as may be decided by the committee)
In the event that 30 or more entries being submitted in the Print Sections the 3rd entry will be omitted from the competition. Notification of the implementation of such decision will be sent to members affected.
Images awarded 1st, 2nd or 3rd highest marks are not eligible for resubmission in subsequent open competitions but are eligible for resubmission in set subject competitions.
Images not awarded 1st, 2nd or 3rd highest marks are eligible for resubmission in one additional open or set subject competition.

SUBMISSION OF PRINTS
Large prints are those images greater than A4.
Small prints are those images up to and including A4.
The member's name, membership number, image title, competition title and competition date to be written on the back of the print mount, on a label if preferred.
Entries to be submitted to the Competition Secretary together with a completed Competition Entry Form no later than one week prior to the competition.

PRINT MOUNTS
Print mounts can be any size but not exceeding 40cm x 50cm.
NB: For our own exhibitions we require Large Prints to be on 40cm x 50cm mounts and Small Prints (no larger than A4) to be on 28cm x 36cm mounts.

SUBMISSION OF PDI's
Size to be a maximum of 1400 pixels wide x a maximum of 1050 pixels high. (For landscape mode, with constrain proportions applied, resize width of original image file to 1400 pxs. For portrait mode, with constrain proportions applied, resize the height of the original image file to 1050 pxs.)
Colour space to be sRGB.
Image files to be titled with the Image Number (prefixed by zero) space Image Title
(e.g. 01 Water Front)
The selected images to be placed in a folder tiltled with the member's name (e.g. John Smith)
Entries to be placed on a memory stick and submitted along with a completed Entry Form to the Competition Secretary no later than one week prior to the competition.

SCORING OF ENTRIES
Marks will be awarded to all images out of 20.
At the end of the Society's season trophies will be awarded to the member gaining the highest scores in each category.
Trophies will be held for twelve months and become the responsibility of the recipient.

SUBMISSION OF WINNING PRINT ENTRIES FOR WEBSITE
Members gaining a placing of 1st., 2nd. or 3rd. in the Print categories are to send files to the webmaster by email or memory stick in a separate folder named 'Web Prints' for display on the Society's web site. Such image files to be JPEGs with a maximum width of 1400 pixels x a maximum height of 1050 pixels, high quality and with sRGB Colour Space. Such images will then be adjusted to meet the requirements of the website by the webmaster.
